1. Dialogue 

➤ 미소: 나나 씨, 요즘에 무슨 드라마 봐요?

➤ 나나: 요즘 '월수금화목토'라는 한국 드라마를 보고 있어요. 

           이제 막 보기 시작했는데 볼수록 재미있는 것 같아요.

Miso: What drama are you watching these days, Nana?

Nana: I'm currently watching a Korean drama called 'Mon-Wed-Fri-Tue-Thur-Sat.'

       I just started watching it, but the more I look at it, the more interesting it seems.

2. Usage

❏ Adjective/Verb + 을수록/ㄹ수록

❏ a connective ending

❏ It is used to imply that as the extent of the preceding statement becomes larger, that of the following statement also changes accordingly.

3. Explanation

1) 한국 드라마는 볼수록 재미있어요. (보다 + ㄹ수록)

2) 이 티셔츠는 빨수록 줄어들어요. (빨다 + ㄹ수록)

1) The more I watch Korean dramas, the more interesting they are.

2) This t-shirt shrinks as I wash it.

4. Expression: A/V-으면/면 A/V-을수록/ㄹ수록

❏ 'Adjective/Verb-(으)면 Adjective/Verb-(으)ㄹ수록' emphasizes a little more than 'Adjective/Verb-(으)ㄹ수록.'

❏ A/V-으면/면 A/V-을수록/수록 

- adjectives/verbs' in front of '-(으)면' and 'adjectives/verbs' in front of '-(으)ㄹ수록' must be the same.

1) 한국 드라마는 보면 볼수록 재미있어요. (보다 + 면, 보다 + ㄹ수록)

2) 이 티셔츠는 빨면 빨수록 줄어들어요. (빨다 + 면, 빨다 + ㄹ수록)

5. Combination information

❏ It attaches after an adjective/a verb stem.

(1) Final Consonant O: -을수록

- 먹다 + 을수록 → 먹을수록

- 작다 + 을수록 → 작을수록

(2) Final Consonant X: -ㄹ수록

- 가다 + ㄹ수록 → 갈수록

- 크다 + ㄹ수록 → 클수록

- 이다 + ㄹ수록 → 일수록

(3) Final Consonant ㄹ: ㄹ탈락 + -ㄹ수록

- 만들다 + ㄹ수록 → 만들수록

- 달다 + ㄹ수록 → 달수록

6. Practice

1. 한국어는 배우면 (배우다) 어려워요.

→ 한국어는 배우면 배울수록 어려워요. (배우다 + ㄹ수록)

2. 친구와 놀면 (놀다) 더 놀고 싶어요. 

→ 친구와 놀면 놀수록 더 놀고 싶어요. (놀다 (ㄹ탈락) + ㄹ수록)

3. 이 책은 (읽다) 재미없어요.

→ 이 책은 읽을수록 재미없어요. (읽다 + 을수록)

1. The more I learn Korean, the harder it is.

2. The more I play with my friend, the more I want to play.

3. The more I read this book, the less interesting it is.
